March had quite a bit of madness.
But not in a good way.
And even though April is (finally) here, we're going to have a bit of fun with a bracket of our own.
Some good madness, if you will.
Over the next month, we're going to crown a virtual meet champion in the state of Tennessee for outdoor track. Here's how it's going to work.
We built a 16-team bracket for both guys and girls consisting of the top four teams in each division at last year's state meet. Then we split the bracket up into two regions -- Division I and Division II.
We seeded the bracket by taking the point totals of each team by division and ranking them one through eight.
Athletes will only be entered in a max of three events. But there's no way to remove athletes from relay teams. Teams will have three entries per event.
Each meet will be scored like a dual meet. 5 points for first. 3 for second. And one for third. Winning relay teams will receive 5 points. And we're taking outdoor career-bests.
Every state championship track and field event will be scored. Including the decathlon. That way we can get as close to a state championship simulation as possible.
So...
