Pearl Cohn is going to be tough to beat again this year.

The Firebirds have been led by outstanding sprints for years in Nashville. But this year, they've also got a few excellent throwers, including Tennessee football signee Elijah Simmons. He could have the chance to score 20 points again this year. That would go a long way toward helping them repeat their state championship.

Another sprint powerhouse will also have a chance to get on the podium. Austin-East out of Knoxville has the sprint depth to put them in the No. 2 spot in our rankings. The Roadrunners are led by sprinter/hurdler Kiyontae Warren, who can score 15 or more by himself.

University School of Johnson City is in the mix for a close third. They have the distance depth to challenge at some of the longer events. Porter Bradley and Nick Daniel may be able to score enough points to crowd the top three a little bit.
