Last season, Pearl Cohn was dominant in the sprints. They won the 2018 TSSAA D1-A Championship with elite depth from 100 meters through 400. And the Firebirds return many of their top athletes from last season. The duo of Elijah Simmons and Corey Mosley will be a force to be reckoned with in the throws. Look out for this team once again around Nashville and at the state level this season.

"We expect to contend for another State Championship this Year."

Who are your top returners?

Elijah Simmons (Shotput & Discus), Corey Mosely (Shotput & Discus), Josiah Titus-Lenox (High Jump), Jayden Harrison, (100m, 200m), Iven Dayton, Jr. (100m dash), Jonathan McLemore (100m & 200m), Darius Willis, (110m & 300m Hurdles), Darian Jones 400m, Kwame Hayes 400m, Kyndrich Breedlove 300m hurdles.

Do you have any impact freshman or incoming transfers?

Coach Andre Davis: "We will have a few freshman that will be asked to step up and contribute early. Barion Brown (100,200 & High Jump) and he also will push the older guys for a spot on the sprint relays. He was the 2018 MNPS middle school city champ in both events as an 8th grader. Kavon Coffee 200,400, LJ. He also will push some a spot on the 800m relay and 1600m as well as add depth to a good sprint group. Erin Jolley  400, HJ, LJ, Darius Nabaa 100,200 


What meets are you keying in on this year?

Coach Reynolds: We use each meet to evaluate our talent. Some meets will focus on sprint relays, others overall team strength. and some meets we will will use to look on Field & Middle distance depth.

What's the most important thing you want young people to learn through running/track and field?

Coach Reynolds: How to work through various obstacles that life presents on a daily basis. (I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, so my athletes see me first hand working through a very difficult situation. NO QUIT! FIGHT & TRUST IN THE LORD!!!)

Have you set any goals as a team?

Coach Reynolds: YES! 2019 STATE CHAMPIONS!!!
