Mostrag 3rd in Polish Jr Nats 800, gearing for Euro Champs 1500

Axel Mostrag competed this past weekend at the Polish Junior Nationals in the 800 meter run. Mostrag, back home in Poland this summer racing as his goal for the year was to qualify for competition in the Euro Junior Championships in the Netherlands. Mostrag won his qualifying heat of the 800 meter run on Monday in 1:51.13 and came back the next day in the finals to place third in a time of 1:53.49. Last year at the Polish Junior Nationals, Mostrag competed in both the 1500 and 800 meter races with top four finishes in both events, but this year is skipping out on the 1500 meter run at nationals to focus on training for the 1500 meter run at the Euro Junior Championships to be held July 19th through 22nd in Hengelo, Netherlands. He is currently ranked 7th in the 1500 meter run among all Euro juniors after his 3:47.31 1500 meter personal best performance two Fridays ago in an open meet. Axel's 1500 best would have won the USATF Junior Nationals last weekend and converted to the mile would rank him fourth in the mile among US preps.
