Turchin 13th at NCAA Championships


SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Chattanooga junior Kathleen Turchin finished 13th

out of 16 runners in the finals of the 5000 meter race at the NCAA

Championships Friday night at Hornet Stadium.

 

The Sugar Hill, Ga., native set a school record Wednesday in the prelims

to earn a spot in the finals and ran a 16:34.39. She had the 16th best

time of all runners advancing to the finals and moved up three spots.

 

Senior Michelle Sikes of Wake Forest ran an NCAA meet record 15:16.76 to

claim the title followed by Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech at 15:24.22.
