SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Southern Conference cross country coaches selected Chattanooga’s David Moore and Shelly Taylor the league’s Runners of the Week for September 10.
Taylor, a sophomore from Dalton, GA finished sixth at the UTC Opener leading her teammates to a tie for second place in the team competition with Auburn. Shelly ran the two mile course in 11:28 and the winner fromAuburn, Hollie Knight finished the course at 11:04. The UTC Opener had nine teams with Georgia Tech winning and Chattanooga and Auburn tied for second.
Moore, a red shirt freshmen engineering major from Ontario, Canadafinished 10th overall with a time of 15:42. He paced Chattanooga to a fifth place finish in a strong nine team field at the UTC Opener. The Auburn Tigers came in first in the UTC Opener and they were followed by Jacksonville State, #17 Alabama and Georgia Tech.
