MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- In a warmup for the indoor track season, several Chattanooga athletes competed in the Middle Tennessee Christmas Invitational Saturday at the Murphy Center.

Senior Lanni Marchant took first in the women's Mile Run and Tim Clark won the men's 3000-meter race. Marchant ran the event in a time of 5:07.31, five seconds faster than Western Kentucky's Janet Jensang in second. Clark ran the 3K in 9:07.24 to win his first race of the season.

In the women's 3000-meter race, Nettie Halcomb was third with a time of 10:29.29 and Katie Williams was four seconds behind in fourth at 10:33.28.

The indoor season will get into full swing at the Blue Raider Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee on Jan. 20. The Mocs will also compete in the Rod McCravey Indoor Meet and the Indiana Invitational. The Southern Conference Championships will be held at Clemson University Feb. 15-16. The NCAA National Championships will be March 9-10.
