RECAP: Large School Division I Section 3 North Subsectional

Distance Runners Cruise to Qualify

The Top Three 3200m runners and four of the top ten 1600m runners in the state reside in the Section 3 North Subsectional but this didn't exactly culminate into must see racing. The common theme of the night on both the boys and girls side of the distance competitions was plain and simple... Qualify.

Titus Winders, 8:52, Silas Winders, 9:01, and David Ahlmeyer, 9:03,  all cruised to under 9:50 comfortably controlling the competition start to finish. You can see some quick race highlights below as well as an interview with the Henry County distance squad afterwards.

Similar race strategies occurred in the 1600m as the Winders brothers opted not to participate in the race so Baylor Franklin and Ahlmeyer again coasted to qualify. Later in the evening he took his race out a little harder in the 800m running away from the competition and finishing in 1:55.

On the girls side, Sara Martin of Rossview, Faith Brown of Station Camp, and Lindsay Ahlmeyer of Beech finished in that order in both the 1600m and 3200m races. Below are interviews with Sara and Lindsay as they echoed similar strategies to what the boys mentioned above.
