Thirteen State Meet Records Go Down At TMSAA Championships

Class AA Boys

Boys Discus

I've grown accustomed to throwers towering over me even at the middle school level but Page's Takoda Brice was pretty unassuming. Average height and build but when he was in the ring could tell that his athleticism, control, and agility gave him and edge over the rest of the field who, on a wet and windy day, did not throw to seeding and he alludes to this in his interview. His 174-5 lengthens the state record by almost ten feet from 165-2 that was set the previous year.

Boys Shot Put

Both boys throws were set in this division on Saturday as two throwers surpassed the previous record of 47-2.5 with White Station's Michael Dixon placing runner up with 48-11 and Kate Bond's Keon Cooper taking the event to a new stratosphere becoming the first middle school thrower at the meet to surpass the fifty foot barrier. His 50-3.5 was the third time the eighth grader has thrown over 50 feet this season with his best being 50-8.5.

Boys 4x100m Relay

The last time the TMSAA State Championship was held in Clarksville, Blackman Middle won the Class AA state title. The Blaze placed fourth this year but still left their mark on the meet with a new state record in the Class AA 4x100m relay. Their 45.30 narrowly lowers the mark set last year of 45.43.

Boys 4x400m Relay

As with the girls in this classification, another Williamson County Middle School set a state record in the 4x400m relay with Brentwood Middle lowering the previous record from 3:44.28 to 3:41.77. The quartet of Andrew Spector, Eli Wyatt, Luke Harren, and Gabe Cabell nailed down the second relay victory for Brentwood with Spector sweeping the distance races and Cabell the open 400m which produced enough points for Vikings to take home their first middle school track title.
