What Is MileSplit?
We get this question a lot when we cover this meet so before we get to the records that were broken on Saturday we should probably explain. The simplest answer is MileSplit is a network of websites across the country where you can see the results of any track and field or cross country meet that occurs in the United States. MileSplit Tennessee is state-level site dedicated to the Volunteer State. Coaches use our platform to create and register for meets throughout the season. Once the results are posted, we process those results to where every individual performance is assigned to an athlete profile, then compiled into a robust ranking system by event, grade, competitive district, etc... If you or your athlete continue to compete in track and field or cross country, MileSplit creates a lifetime catalog of performances on their athlete profile.
Beyond the results however, we create editorial content through the year as well as well as and multimedia coverage like race video, athlete interviews, and photo albums. Eventually, that race footage will be tagged to the athlete profiles to further build a robust catalog of their career as an athlete. So far this outdoor track season we have uploaded over 2000 race videos from 28 meets and over 30 photo albums. Unfortunately for those reading this, all that has been from High School competitions. As we continue to expand, we'll hopefully have the bandwidth to get to middle school competitions during the season rather than right at the very end.

Thirteen New Records
I've lost count of how many state records have been set on the high school side because a) there have been at least 8 and b) whether or not one counts depends on a numerous number of factors in order to have it ratified. With the middle school meet only being seven years old with the same timer year in and year out, keeping track of the records is easy and on Saturday there were no shortage of them. As this meet expands to include more and more schools from Tennessee every year, expect this trend to continue.
Class A Girls
Girls Shot Put
Leah Mowell of Rogersville Middle opened the record setting with a toss of 37-10.25 narrowly beating the previous mark set in 2018 by a little over three inches. Her best on this season was 39-1.
Girls 800m Run
East Tullahoma 8th Grader Brindley Duncan won the 800m event for the second year in a row and likewise set the class record lowering it from 2:26.67 to 2:24.31. Moreover, she won the 1600m as well this year which she placed runner up in the year before and was able to stand next to teammate Katie Nichols on the podium after she placed runner up with an impressive 9 second PR on Saturday.
