Meet Information

Coaches,

The 2010 Middle Tennessee A-AA Track Subsection and Section is less than a month away.

The East will be hosted by MLK at the old TPS campus and the West will be at David Lipscomb. Stephen Dorris will be the meet director for the East and Tim Taylor will be the meet director for the West.

Below are the teams in our section that are listed by the TSSAA as having track teams.
East Subsection HOST- MLK Magnet-18 teams
West Subsection-HOST-David Lipscomb-20 teams

In all field events and the 800, 1600 and 3200, the top 3 from each subsection will qualify to move on to the section finals plus the next best 6 qualifiers overall. This will place 12 people in the field events and the individual distance finals. In the sprints and in all relays, the top 2 from each subsection plus the next best 5 overall will move on to the section finals. The subsection 100/110 m and 300 m hurdles will be held on Thursday night in a section vs. times format (if more that one heat is required).

Entries for the Pentathlon and Decathlon (at David Lipscomb) are due in by 5:00 on Thursday, April 29. The entry for these events is already available online at http://www.alltraxtiming.com/ . There will be NO additional fee for the decathlon and pentathlon. The concession stand will not be open on those days. There are home baseball games, so fans may visit the concession stand at the baseball field. We will begin both days promptly at 3:30.

Subsection entries will be due at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7. Entries will need to be made through Tennessee Mile Split. The entry page can be reached from their website or through alltrax. The links are: (http://tn.milesplit.us/meets/calendar/2010/outdoor/ OR alltraxtiming.com) .

You need to go ahead and enter or update your team roster at Mile Split NOW!
The method for entering your team roster will take some time. After you register at tennesseerunner.com for an account, you will have to wait to receive a confirmation e-mail from them. If you wait until the day of the deadline, you will likely not receive confirmation in time to finish. Please establish an account and enter your team rosters as soon as possible. If you run into trouble, then you will have time to get it corrected before the entry deadline. You will need to go to tennesseerunner.com to do this. This will make the actual entry process go much faster. Last spring, there were a few coaches who missed the deadline. Once the deadline passes, the meet entry web link will close and it will be impossible for you to make your entries. I had to enter those teams myself last year. I could not seed the meet until we had all entries. It meant I had to contact coaches on Friday night and Saturday morning and then enter the names from my computer. This took me several hours of work on an already busy weekend. Please get your entries in on time or you will be charged a late fee of $25 per day (per TSSAA rules).

Entry fees are due in by May 3. (Please get your entry fees in on time to avoid us having to collect fees during the meet. . ) ALL entry fees (for both the East and the West) should be sent in to Tim Taylor, David Lipscomb High School, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville TN 37204. Checks should be made out to David Lipscomb High School. They should be mailed in time to arrive by May 3. Entry Fees will be $130 per school; ($65 if only a boys or girls team) or $10 per athlete if 6 or fewer athletes.

We will not have a formal coaches meeting prior to the meet. We will plan to have a business meeting of all coaches during the section meet. An exact time for the meeting will be communicated with you later.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Tim Taylor

2. ALL entry fees should be sent in to Tim Taylor, David Lipscomb High School, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville, TN 37204. Checks should be made out to David Lipscomb High School. 3. The subsection and section meet are considered 1 continuous meet. In reality, the subsection will serve as the preliminary round for the section meet. That means the entry limit of 4 events applies to both meets. If an athlete is entered in 4 events in the subsection, he/she can only participate in those 4 events at the section finals. He/she can not be added to a relay at the section meet. (For example, if an athlete is entered in the Long Jump, High Jump, 100 and 200 in the subsection, the 4 events are used up for the 2 week period. That athlete would not be eligible to participate in any relays. If an athlete is entered in the Long Jump and 100, he/she would be eligible for 2 relays. If that athlete participated in 2 relays at the subsection and neither team made it to the section finals, that athlete would only be eligible in the Long Jump and 100 at the section level-provided he/she qualified in those events. Another example would be if an athlete competed in the long jump, 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and the open 200. If he/she doesn
