Storylines from the 2016 Arcadia Invitational

The Weather

It's still only April, but you hope for better than 60's and rainy when a big meet weekend rolls around.  That's what we've got, though, and undoubtedly it will have an effect on the competition.  Some events it hurts indirectly: power athletes perform better in warm weather with more heat in their muscles, and it will be much more difficult to get and stay warmed up.  Some events it hurts directly: hurdles and jumpers often feel uncomfortable with their traction in wet weather, and grip on the shot and discus can be hindered.  On the other hand, it can help in the distance races and long sprints, where athletes benefit from not overheating (and many runners even enjoy racing in light showers.)

Two things are for sure - if you're a die-hard fan of this sport you'll be there to watch no matter what the weather, and MileSplit (being composed entirely of die-hard fans) will still bring you full coverage of the meet!
