(had to be specific to clarify the confusion). I also signed my letter intent to the University of Tennessee- Knoxville for a full-athletic scholarship.
Maia McCoy signed a National Letter of Intent to run for the University of Tennessee. She chose them over full track scholarships to LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, and Illinois amongst others. Taejah Robertson and Gatashyka Lyons both signed National Letters of Intent with Tennessee Tech University.
American High School senior Ari Cogdell led the Patriots to a runner-up finish at the 4A state championships finishing 4th in the open 400m, and anchoring the school's winning 4x400m relay. His 46.67 at the 4A Region 4 Championships is the fastest returning time in the state for the upcoming season, and sixth fastest in the nation. In addition to that nationally ranked time, his anchor leg at the Golden South Classic gave American a US#2 time of 3:12.12. Cogdell recently announced he will continue his running career as a member of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. We caught up with the quarter-mile standout to talk about the recruiting process, his decision, and future goals.

5:52PM EDT October 25. 2012 - Lolo Jones took the next step Thursday toward making the U.S. Olympic team in a second sport. The hurdles star was named to the U.S. bobsled team Thursday morning as a push athlete. Jones finished second in a team selection race with pilot Jazmine Fenlator on Saturday. "This is a breath of fresh air — cool, very cool, cold air," Jones said. She joins 2010 Olympic bobsledder Emily Azevedo, world championship medalist Katie Eberling and track and field athletes Tianna Madison, Aja Evans and Cherrelle Garrett. (via www.usatoday.com)

Jacob Blankenship set the OHSAA All-Division record in the Pole Vault by clearing a height of 17-1 (OH #1,US #3) Thursday night at the Division 1 Central District Meet at Hilliard Darby. Blankenship's vault bests the previous state record of 17-0 that he and Joey Uhle (Olentangy Liberty) both set last year. Blankenship has a personal best vault of 17-6.5 that he set during an indoor competion at Oberlin this year.
As a freshman, Jake Blankenship reluctantly approached Gahanna track coach Ed Rarey and expressed a tepid interest in pole-vaulting. Just a few days into practice, he disappointed his sports-minded family by deciding to quit. His mother, Becky, had set track records at Heidelberg College. His father, Kevin, is a bodybuilder and personal trainer. (via )

Clark, who led the Lady Volunteers to a pair of NCAA National Championships and six Southeastern Conference titles during his seven seasons as head coach, has been chosen to lead a combined men’s and women’s track & field/cross country program at the University of Tennessee, Director of Men’s Athletics Mike Hamilton and Director of Women’s Athletics Joan Cronan announced jointly on Monday. “It’s a great honor to be entrusted with the combined men’s and women’s track & field program at the University of Tennessee,” Clark said. “I have great respect for the tradition of the men’s program at UT. I recognize the responsibility associated with leading this program. We intend to compete for championships.”
A pair of throwers, a sprinter and a multi-eventer have signed national letters of intent to join the University of Tennessee women’s track & field program, Lady Vol head coach J.J. Clark announced Monday. A native of Warrenton, Va., and a graduate of Fauquier (FOCK-ier) High School, Bowman collected the second SEC cross country weekly honor of her career and the first by a Lady Vol since Katie Flaute was recognized on Oct. 4, 2005. Bowman did so by winning the Belmont Opener in Nashville on Aug. 31 with a career-best 4,000-meter clocking of 14 minutes, 00.58 seconds on an 87-degree evening in Music City.
