KYtrackXC.com Labor Day Runners of the Week

High School Boys - Jacob Thomson (Holy Cross)

The Runner of the Week is usually someone who sets a big PR, wins a big race, or does something shocking.  Thomson is clearly the best runner in Kentucky and it is hard for him to pull off shocking or even a big win as it is expected from him.  But Saturday at the Artesian Classic in Martinsville, Indiana he did just that, as he went to run against two MileSplit US Top 25 National Runners in #2 Futsum Zeinasellassie and #20 Andrew Diehn.  He finished second overall beating Diehn and placing just 12 seconds behind Futsum to run a 15:40.  Thomson was on MileSplit’s National Watch List last week and should debut in the top 25 in the next MileSplit Top 25.

High School Girls – Abby Eades (Daviess County)

A Daviess County girl or boy being named the Runner of the Week is not surprising as they are annually some of the best in the state.  Those who pay attention can normally name the best DC runners.  This past Saturday at the Memphis Twilight Classic a new name joined the list, Abby Eades finished as the teams #2 runner placing 8th overall with a new best time of 19:34 cracking the 20 minute barrier for the first time ever.  Her 46 second best time placed her as the #2 overall Kentucky runner beating a couple of her solid teammates and the Bowling Green girls.

Middle School Boys – Donta Millay (Owensboro)

Millay, a 7th grader at Owensboro won the Boys Middle School race at the Madisonville North Hopkins Invitational with a time of 8:53.  His time for the 2500 Meter course was only four seconds off the course record.

Middle School Girls – Michaela Reinhart (St. John School)

Reinhart, a 7th grader at St. John School beat the entire field of boys and girls at the Double S Stampede Saturday.  She beat the closest girl by 1 minute and 20 seconds and she beat the winning boy by 30 seconds.  Her winning time was a 11:25 for the 3000 Meter Run.
