10/15-Jeffers, LaSalle top O\'Hara, but Thomas posts quick 2nd place in Eastern States at VCP

LaSalle has been chasing Cardinal O\'Hara through the early part of the season, and on Saturday on the shorter 2.5 mile course at Van Cortlandt Park, they passed them, finishing 2nd in the Eastern States Boys Race to unranked Oakton VA 106 (3-11-27-31-34) to 122 (6-23-25-28-40). Southeast #3 Thomas Jefferson was 3rd with 141 (12-17-29-36-47), with NE#9 Cardinal O\'hara coming in at 166 (2-19-42-51-52) points for 4th. O\'Hara started the scoring with a fantastic 12:45 from Greg Thomas, who finished 2nd Steve Duplinsky of Georgetown MD. Charlie McNulty (19th in 13:20) followed LaSalle\'s Pat Jeffers (6th in 13:00) across the line by 20 seconds, but then it was four more LaSalle runners seal their win over their PCL rival. Monsignor Bonner would finish 9th.

LaSalle\'s Sean Casey won the Boys JV race in 13:46, the 5th best on the team for the day by just a tenth of a second.

In the Varsity Girls A Race, Cardinal O\'Hara finished 6th and Archbishop Carroll, 8th. O\'Hara\'s Beth Kelly was 10th in 15:59. The Archbishop Ryan girls took 11th in the Varsity B Race behind Janine Walsh\'s 16:34 7th place finish.
