BRENTWOOD - Sophomore Cenitra Hudson, of
Austin Peay State University women's track and field team, has been named the
adidas® Ohio Valley Conference's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office
announced, Tuesday.
Hudson took over the APSU school record in
the triple jump, Saturday, at the Ed Temple/Tennessee State Invitational, with
a 12.45m (40-10.25) mark. Not only was a personal best for Hudson, it also
registered as the OVC's best mark in the young indoor season.
"That was a huge jump and big mark for her,"
head coach Doug Molnar said. "It sets her up and gives her an idea of what her
capabilities are this year. She's worked so hard this offseason, the summer and
this fall. This is a tribute to the work she's put in."
What is even more remarkable for Hudson is the
previous record belonged to APSU Hall of Famer Ayesha Maycock, a member of
Austin Peay's 2001 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Hudson's mark, Saturday, was good enough for
third at the Ed Temple/TSU Invite. It was one of two top-10 finishes for Hudson
on the day. She also ran a personal-best 26.08 in the 200-meter dash, which
placed seventh and led the Austin Peay contingent.
