Langat posts Top 50 finish at NCAA South Regional

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior Enock Langat finished 49th to lead the Austin Peay State University men's cross country team at the NCAA South Regional Championships, Saturday, at Veterans Park.

Only four Govs made the trip to the regional meet and did not record a team score. Alabama scored 30 points to win the meet as its first four runners crossing the line among the top 10.

Langat finished 49th in the 147-man event, finishing the 10-kilometer race with a time of 31:59.04. Sophomore Geofrey Kosgei finished 64th with a time of 32:26.39. Freshmen Tyler Kepley (134th, 35:03.04) and Genaro Martinez (147th, 37:23.02) also competed individually.

"Enock really ran a strong race from start to finish," said cross country head coach Doug Molnar. "It was a tough course, the footing wasn't very good. So for him that time on that type of course was an excellent effort. Kosgei ran a nice race and was right in the mix."
