LOUISVILLE, Ky. - As has been the case all season, junior
Enock Langat led the Austin Peay State University men's cross country team with a 17th-place
finish in the blue race of the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic,
Saturday, at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
Austin Peay finished 25th in the 34-team blue race as
Langat and sophomore Geofrey Kosgei posted the team's only top-50 finishes in
the 328-man field. The Govs finished behind a surprising Morehead State squad
that finished 10th, ahead of regionally ranked Kentucky.
Langat finished the eight-kilometer course in 25:33.80,
slightly behind his season-best pace set at Memphis last weekend. Kosgei
finished 45th with a time of 26:07.10.
However, the rest of the Govs were well behind the front pair,
junior Boniface Yator finishing 156th with a time of 27:05.09. He was followed
by freshmen Tyler Kepley (207th, 27:42.40) and Evan Collins (234th, 28:00.70)
to round out the Govs scoring runners.
"Enock continues to run very
well, he had an outstanding race," said Austin Peay cross country coach Doug Molnar. "We did some good things as a team. We were able to close our gap
between the five runners, but we need it to get even closer."
Austin Peay will take the upcoming week off before
returning to action, Oct. 16, at the Fast Cats Invitational in Owensboro, Ky.l
