Three Lady Govs head to Arkansas for Last Chance

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Senior pole vaulters Molly Bartkiewicz and Carrie Burggraf, along with junior sprinter Chiamaka Obi, will compete in the Last Chance Meet, Friday, in Fayetteville, Ark.

For Bartkiewicz and Burggraf, this meet offers their last opportunity to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Although both already are provisional qualifiers, as of last weekend 32 other female pole vaulters were vying for between six to 10 spots in the field. Fourteen automatic qualifiers already have been secured.

"It looks like the vaulters will have to jump 4.21 meters (13-09.75) or very close to it to have a chance," said head coach Doug Molnar. "There will be at least eight other competitors at this meet who have provisionally qualified, so there will be some great competition."

As for Obi, she will use this meet in an attempt to best the school record in the 400-meter dash she set last week at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships, which currently stands at 55.85 seconds.

"There will be some high-quality competition here for Obi," said Molnar. "This meet will be good experience for her."
