CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Junior Chiamaka Obi, of Austin Peay State University women's track and field team, was named this week's Ohio Valley Conference Female track athlete of the week, Tuesday, as announced by the conference office.

"Obi has had an outstanding indoor season," said head coach Doug Molnar. "She worked hard this fall and all that hard work is paying off."

Obi won the 400-meter dash at the Ohio State University Tune-Up, Friday, running a 56.62 second time to defeat her next closest competition by more than half a second. Her time now stands as the second best mark in the conference this season in the 400-meter dash.

"Chiamaka has become a real team leader," said Molnar. "We went in to last week with a detailed plan on how she was going to run the 400 and she followed it to a tee."
