Matt Hoty of Perkins Verbally Commits to the University of Tennessee

Senior Matthew Hoty of Sandusky Perkins (Ohio) has chosen to continue his eduation and track and field career at the University of Tennessee.  While wearing the orange and white of the Volunteers, Hoty will be coached by respected throws coach John Frazier.

 

Hoty has been a staple in the shot put ring the during his high school career and is coming off an impressive junior campaign, which was capped off with an Ohio Division 2 state championship in the shot put..  Hoty returns the third best indoor shot put mark in the state and sixth best nationally with a toss of 59-3.5 from the 2009 OATCCC Indoor State Meet.  During the outdoor season, Hoty set the Ohio Division II record in the shot put with a heave of 64-8.25.  The throw of 64-8.25 was the second best throw in the state last year and the top returning mark this season, while also being the tenth best throw in the nation last year and the second best returning throw.  Hoty also owns a personal best of 165-1 in the discus.
