Future Stars: Danielle Dunning - Class of 2025

Future Stars

Every week this season we are going to feature an underclassmen on our site whose performances caught our attention. This will be a great opportunity for us to shine a spotlight on athletes who are on the cusp of becoming "household names" in the Tennessee Track and Field community. Feel free to submit suggestions as you see fit.

Danielle Dunning

In 2020, Danielle Dunning placed 5th and 6th in the short sprint at the Tennessee State HS Indoor Track Championships. As it turns out, she was in 7th grade at the time. Now she's a freshman and in our first State Indoor Championship since the pandemic, she took first in of these events early last month. Her 2022 indoor campaign didn't end there however. This past weekend she won both the Freshman Elite 60m and 200m National Title at Adidas Track Nationals in convincing fashion running 7.61 (US #4) and 24.94 (US #7) respectively.

Post-Race Interview

She has yet to make her outdoor debut and when she does she will do so under Brainerd High School and as the interviewer said at the end "can't wait to see you in outdoor." Same. We'll be watching what she does and so should you.
