What was your full mile PR when you were in 8th
grade? For me, I have to imagine it was somewhere between 5:30 and 6:00. The
Milesplit archives don't exactly go back that far.
For Keegan Smith, it's 4:34.65 and it's not even outdoor season yet! Running for Cosey Elite out of Knoxville, Smith hit his 34 second 200 meter splits like a metronome on Friday night on his way to setting a new Rising Stars Boys 1 Mile record set in 2013.
To put this feat in perspective, his time would rank him 50th in 2019 among all high school boy runners in Tennessee. Next year Keegan will attend Knoxville Catholic but until then, I think it's safe to say we can drop the "rising" from his title.
