TN Girls XC: Hutchins, Brentwood Headline Busy Week Five

Another week, and another sub-17 run for Jenna Hutchins.

She's making it look easy at this point.

One week after running a new all-time state best in Oakville, Alabama, Hutchins clocked in at 16:36 back in East Tennessee at the Fenders Farm Carnival on Saturday morning.

That's the fastest time ever run by a Tennessee girl on Tennessee soil.

Here were the top 15 finishers.

Definitely a solid couple of weeks for the Science Hill junior.

Down in Alabama, Brentwood High School came away with the team title on the girls side at The Southern Showcase.

Take a look at these times.

That's as good of a 1-2-3 punch as you're going to get in the state this year. Kaitlyn Vanderkolk improved 23 seconds off of her runner up finish at Chickasaw Trails last weekend. Brooke Tyll took 19 seconds off too.

But it was Peyton Strauss who made the biggest improvement out of that top three - running 18:30.5, which was 48 seconds better than her eighth place finish last Saturday.

The Bruins clocked in with an 18:42 team average to take the win with 42 points.

Not bad.

Franklin High School came in third with 131 points - led by a strong finishes from Madison Lanai, Ayers Leggett and Veronica Beech, another one of the stronger 1-2-3 punches in Tennessee girls cross country this year.
