TSSAA Issues Wednesday Update on XC Season in TN

Cross country is still on schedule for this fall in Tennessee.

The TSSAA had its board of control meeting on Wednesday morning to issue an update on contact vs. non-contact sport schedules for fall 2020.

Executive director Bernard Childress said that cross country is not considered a high-risk sport, so it will continue as scheduled.

Cross country practices and meets will stay on its normal schedule right now following the conclusion of the summer dead period in Tennessee.

Childress also added that there are no plans to possibly swap spring and fall sports in order to ensure that football can be played. He explained that the TSSAA does not want to risk spring sports losing their seasons for two straight cycles.

So there is no chance that track & field moves to the fall.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story continues.
