Gov. Lee Extends Emergency Order: How it Affects XC in TN

Governor Bill Lee has extended his state of emergency declaration on Monday for the state of Tennessee.

And it will affect sports through the end of August.

The executive order limits sports with close contact until after August 29. It also limits social and recreational gatherings of 50 or more people, unless adequate social distancing can be maintained.

There's no word yet on how this will affect the TSSAA, and specifically cross country.

The state association has a meeting scheduled later this week for 10 AM CT on Wednesday, July 1.

Several Board members have expressed concerns over how we should proceed with classification as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The Board will discuss whether or not to proceed or delay classification this next school year.
