Siegel Senior Canaan Anderson Commits to UT

It's been a good week for Canaan Anderson.

Last Saturday, his team won its third straight state championship in cross country. He finished All-State in sixth place with an impressive 15:57 on a muddy Steeplechase course.

On Thursday night, he committed to the University of Tennessee.

Not a bad couple of days.

Anderson ran a career-best time of 15:05 to finish fifth at Great American earlier this cross country season. He placed sixth in the 1600 meter run against a loaded field last May in Div. 1 Large Schools, running a 4:22. His 1600 career-best came at Great 8, where he placed first in 4:18.

Canaan went on to run 4:17 for a full mile at the Music City Distance Carnival last June, giving him one of the top times in the country last outdoor season.

Anderson joins a great group of runners from the Volunteer State who have also committed to the Vols. Callie Tucker (Knoxville Catholic) , Eleanor Mancini (Knox. Catholic), Fuji Anday (Central Magnet) and Zoe Vlk (Wilson Central) have also made their commitments in the past couple months.

This is a big get for Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan and the Volunteers.
