Pustilnik Crushes First Steeple Race With MCDC Win

Rylee Pustilnik had a stellar weekend in both the 2000m steeple and girls mile at the Music City Distance Carnival.

This was Pustilnik's first time racing the steeple, only going over a few barriers to practice the week prior to competition.

Pustilnik took it out strong in a 1:19.08 first lap followed by a 2:44.57 800m split. The junior's main goal was to dip under 4:57 in the mile the next day in order to earn a championship qualifying spot in the event at NB outdoor nationals in a few weeks. So, she knew she needed to push the steeple to get a qualifying time for nationals, but be nice and relaxed to prepare for the mile race the next day.

The Spanish River junior finished up strong, winning the 2000m steeple in a time of 7:11.20 -- qualifying her for the 2000m Steeple Championship at NB outdoors. The junior followed up her steeple win with a 5:15 mile the next night in a loaded field. A great weekend for the Boca Raton native.
