Whitehaven Dominates at Sugar Bowl

The Whitehaven Tigers' motto is #RespectTheHaven.

Louisiana was on notice over the weekend.

Superstar spring duo Emmanuel Bynum and Kirstin Jones were both in action at the prestigious deep south meet. And both of the senior sprinters made the most of their opportunities.

Bynum was named the athlete of the meet with a tremendous triple (10.80/21.42/47.02). Thank ranks him first in the state at all three distances, and second in the country for 400 meters + US No. 7 for 200

Jones was fantastic too. She ran 11.81 in the 100 meter dash for a US No. 6 and TN No. 1 time to set her own state lead in the early going.

In case you missed it earlier this season, both of the Memphis-area stars will take their talents to the Southeastern Conference next season. Bynum will be a Tennessee Vol. Jones is headed to Ole Miss.

The Whitehaven girls also have the top relay team at all three distances in Tennessee.

Not a bad start to the year.

Both of these athletes are tremendous talents who will likely headline the state's performances at big meets all season. It was good to see some of the Volunteer State's best lay down an early marker for the outdoor season.

Keep an eye out for the Haven. It may only be March 24th.

But they're already asking for your respect.
