Emmanuel Bynum Signs With Tennessee

One of Tennessee's top sprinters is going to be a Vol.

Whitehaven senior Emmanuel Bynum announced on Monday morning that he is signing with the University of Tennessee.

At the end of the day, Bynum told us that he felt at home on Rocky Top.

"The reason why I chose UT Knox is because their team is like a family," Bynum told Tennessee MileSplit.

Although the Memphis native is staying in-state, Knoxville is still quite a long way from home.

He felt like the six hour drive wasn't too much because of the way he was treated by the athletes and coaches.

Far from home? Sure. But did it feel like home? Absolutely.

"I know that when I leave from home, I will be in good hands there," he said. "Coach Neville is an amazing coach, and I know he will get me to the next level. I can't wait to spend my future 4 years being a Vol!"

Bynum, who transferred to Whitehaven this past fall, has already run some fantastic times this indoor season. He leads Tennessee with a 21.59 in the 200 meter dash, which also ranks him 14th nationally.

He's also ranked fifth in the state for the 400 meter dash, but without a lane violation at the Music City HS Indoor Invite, he'd have the state lead there too.

Expect big things from Bynum this outdoor season too. He'll have a chance to help his team compete for a state championship.

And he'll be in the mix for a few individual medals as well.
