Music City Indoor Preview: Middle Tennessee

Field Events

Pentathlon: Avery McMullen (Centennial High School)

McMullen is the defending state champion in the pentathlon outdoors, and she's off to a good start this indoor season as well. She's entered in the pentathlon at this year's invitational, and she'll have a chance to set a new personal best against good competition.

Long Jump: Meg Wilson (Brentwood) & Jett Kinder (Brentwood)

Two members of the Kindersport dynasty will be on display in the long jump. Jett Kinder is actually the meet record holder in the pentathlon. But this year he'll just be competing in individual events. He'll jump seventh in an elite field of jumpers from around the Southeast. He's the fourth-highest seed in the pole vault as well, coming in at 4.57m.

Wilson is the number one seed in the girls long jump. She jumped 19-3.5 outdoors last year. That ended up being the top mark in the state for all of last indoor season.

Throws: Zoe Vlk (Wilson Central) & Victoria Caldwell (Brentwood Academy)

A couple of all-state throwers will headline the weight throw and shot put. Vlk has already thrown career-high marks this season at KYA. She was third in the state outdoors last year for the discus and shot put. Caldwell is the defending indoor state champion in the weight throw. She won her first outdoor state championship two and a half years ago as a freshman. They're both entered in the weight throw and shot put competitions.
