TN Milesplit Ten: October Girls Team Rankings

The two best girls teams in the state of Tennessee both reside on Granny White Pike in Williamson County.

As we take a look at the top girls teams in the state of Tennessee right now, there are a lot of changes that could happen. With a month to go until the state championship, some teams will really start to ramp up their training now for conference championships.

But at the moment, two Brentwood schools hold the top spots according to the numbers.

1. Brentwood High School

The Bruins finished as the top girls team in Tennessee at the Greater Louisville Classic over the weekend. They edged out Brentwood Academy by 13 points. Brentwood was led by freshman Sofia Rutherford, who led the way with a 19:37 on the Tom Sawyer Park course. The Bruins also took home the Voyles Classic at the start of the fall, and look like the team to beat among Division I Large Schools.

2. Brentwood Academy

The Eagles nearly knocked off Brentwood in Louisville. And so far this season, they're the closest team to beating the Bruins. Led by senior Coco Holliday (TN No. 16) and Kylie Wittman, the Eagles possess a veteran laden squad with experience in big competitions. BA has a 20:09 average this season, good for second in the state.

3. Webb School of Knoxville

Webb's performance at the Tennessee Classic in Nashville is a big reason why they're in the top three. Senior Niki Narayani has had an excellent start to her season. She's won won all three races she's competed in this season, including her meet record performance last weekend in Louisville. The Spartans averaged a 21:06 on Steeplechase last month, which puts them at number three in this month's list.

4. Farragut High School

The Admirals were the top Volunteer State finishers in the girls championship competition at the Wingfoot Classic in Georgia last month. Led by sophomore Cathy Hu, Farragut is the fourth best team in Tennessee on paper. Farragut's tight pack has aided its impressive start to the season. That includes a big win with 25 points at the Fenders Farm Cross Country Classic.

5. Science Hill High School

The Hilltoppers' impressive win at the Cherokee Classic puts them in the top five of our October team rankings. Led by freshman Jenna Hutchins, Science Hill has one of the best young teams in the state. Hutchins' run of 17:43 at Cherokee last month still stands alone as the best performance in the state so far this season. And it's going to be hard to beat.

6. Dobyns Bennett High School

7. Arlington High School

8. Houston High School

9. Hardin Valley Academy

10. David Crockett High School
