Pearl Cohn, East Nashville Win Week's First Titles

In the running events, Pearl Cohn kept the foot on the gas.

Nickson Pierre secured the victory in the 400 meter dash to keep the Firebirds out in front, winning in 48.72 seconds. The Firebirds also finished second in the 4x400 meter relay following wins in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays.

Kevin Davis had a big win in the 100 meter dash. He ran 10.65 to win his first state championship. And he's still just a sophomore.

In the distance side of things, Jonah Bird cleaned up. The Signal Mountain standout won the 1600 and 3200 meter relays, and he also anchored the winning 4x800 meter relay.

On the girls side, there was another standout who swept.

Dresden's Loral Winn was a big winner -- pun intended. She finished first in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. And her teammate Anna Johnson won the 3200 meter run as well.

But like Pearl Cohn on the guys side, East Nashville ran away with the team competition early. That was due in large part to Kennedi Johnson, who brought home gold for both the high and intermediate hurdles.
