Performers of the Weekend: 4/23

Team Performances

There were a few outstanding team performances over the weekend as well. And this time of year, that's equally important as our individual highlights.

Brentwood Academy's girls and boys swept the Doug Hall Relays. That makes six meet championships in a row for the boys team, who was coming off a big win at the Houston Track Classic last weekend in Memphis. The Eagles look to be the class of the state again this season after beating the likes of Memphis Central and Brentwood in two straight competitions.

Hardin Valley Academy's boys relay teams had a huge weekend. The Hawks set a new state-best time in the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays. 1:28 and 3:21 will be big point scorers at the state meet. Houston High School, led by Colin and Keaton Jones, took the new TN No. 1 4x800 time at Eastern Relays in 8:02.

McCallie won their invitational over the weekend. Samuel Ligon set a new mile personal best. 4:35 will put him in contention to qualify for the state meet. The Blue Tornado were also second in the 4x100 and 4x800 meter relays.
