Wow! As all eyes focused on the Nike Cross Nationals Southwest and South Regionals this weekend, Rebecca Story clocked an impressive 9:59.85 for 3200m to win the Hoka One One 3200m Postal Nationals event in Knoxville, Tenn.
Rebecca Story after winning the Tennessee Class A-AA state cross country title:
The No. 18 ranked runner in the Saucony Flo50 won the race by almost a minute. Halle Hausman was second in 10:58.31. The mark is a big PR for Story, who clocked 10:11.24 for two miles at the Brooks PR Invitational and set her 3200m PR of 10:16.72 at the Arcadia Invitational. She's enjoyed an undefeated season in the southeast region of the country this fall, which included setting a course record of 17:24.6 at the Cherokee Classic and earning her first cross country state title.
Despite her ranking, Story has never qualified for a national cross country meet. She was 44th at the NXN Southeast Regional last fall and placed 79th at Foot Locker South Regional as a sophomore in 2014.
