Johnny Bomar moves to Head Track Coach at King College.

Previously serving as assistant in charge of Sprints, Hurdles and Horizontal Jumps since the 2005 -2006 school year, Johnny Bomar will now take over the head coaching duties at King. Since the 2006 season, Coach Bomar has wasted no time in demonstrating his knowledge of and love for the sport. In the short time he has been at King, he has personally coached 34 NAIA National Qualifiers, 14 NAIA ALL AMERICANS, two NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS and a 2007 PAN-AM Juniors Silver Medalist. In 2007 the men’s team finished 7th in the Outdoor Nationals ending a season highlighted by the achievements of seven All Americans and two National Champions.

Coach Bomar is 2002 graduate of Western Carolina University and served as Western Carolina Assistant Coach from 2003 until 2005. While at Western he coached 20 Southern Conference Champions, 36 All Conference Athletes, 20 NCAA Regional Qualifiers and one Junior National All American.

Peter Dalton named as new Cross Country Coach at King College.

The Athletic Department is extremely happy to announce that Peter Dalton will be taking over the distance program at King College. In addition to being responsible for the cross-country program in the fall, Peter will also coach the distance runners during the track seasons and assist newly appointed head track coach Johnny Bomar in other areas as well. Peter comes to King after serving as assistant to Milligan College’s Head Coach, Chris Layne, since 2006. Milligan’s teams have consistently been among the top teams in our area, so we are very pleased to have someone with Peter’s background join us.

Coach Dalton graduated from ETSU in 2006 and was an outstanding distance runner while at ETSU. In 2006, he helped captain the Buccaneer men's team to the Inaugural Atlantic Sun Indoor Title and also led the team to their highest cross-country finish in more than a decade at the conference meet. While a collegian, he was named to the All-Conference Athletic and Academic Teams numerous times. Prior to his collegiate career, Dalton represented his native Ireland eight times, highlighted by his 21st place finish at the World Junior Mountain Running Championships.

"I am very pleased to have Johnny and Peter take charge of the program. These two guys have the knowledge and passion to take our current and future athletes to their highest level possible. High school athletes considering King College as their next home should be excited to hear of this development". - Tom Murrell, current Head Coach Track & Cross Country
