CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Adrian Martin placed first in two events and Emmanuel Kipchumba added a third as both Lee University track teams earned eighth place finishes at the 2015 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two squads combined for nine mentions on the NCCAA All-American lists by finishing in the top three of their respective events.

The event has held in the Doden Field House on the campus of Cedarville University. Bethel College (Ind.) won both the women's and men's team championships.

Martin edged Bethel's Avante Newsome-Gunn by 0.02 seconds to win the 55 meter dash with an NCCAA meet record of 7.14 seconds. The former record of 7.19 was held by Alexa Winik of Cedarville and stood since Feb. 20, 2010.

Martin added her second national championship and second All-American performance with a mark of 25.51 in the 200 meter dash. Once again, the sophomore held off Newsome-Gunn (25.87) for the win.

"Adrian ran two magnificent races," said Lee head coach Caleb Morgan. "Her ability to come out of the blocks and accelerate to top speed is remarkable. Her improvements throughout this season have been huge each race."

Kipchumba garnered his win and All-American status in the 800 meter run. The junior crossed the finish line at 1:58.20, just ahead of Cedarville's Tim De Jong (1:58.30). Adam Gullette was 11th in the race with a time of 2:04.93.

"Kip ran a beautiful tactical race. He sat in the pack then pulled away with 200 meters remaining," said Morgan. "I am very proud of his accomplishments. Kip did not run track before coming to the U.S. four years ago and has worked very hard to become the competitive runner he is today."

Kipchumba earned All-American honors for the second time as part of the men's 4x400 meter relay team. The foursome of Kipchumba, Gullette, Harold Smith and Justin Knuth recorded a third-place time of 3:25.53.

Moneque Beckford finished third in the 400 meter dash (59.35) to earn All-American honors. Rick Barry was the final Lee athlete to earn All-American status. Barry placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.68 meters. Hunter Goforth placed 10th (6.08 meters) in the event.

Emily Bryan tallied 2451 points to finish fifth in the pentathlon. Anna Grace Govero of Mississippi College was first with 3127 points. Bryan was eighth (9.91) in the 55 meter hurdles, seventh (1.32 meters) in the high jump, 10th (6.62 meters) in the shot put, fifth (4.46 meters) in the long jump and second (2:29.50) in the 800 meter run.

Jessica Childers finished fifth in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:12.92. Elizabeth Sillcocks and Rachel Riel ran the 5000 meter event with Sillcocks placing sixth (18:41.16) and Riel finishing 24th (20:32.02).

Lauren Hart was 20th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:42.86, while Kaitlyn Kincer was 21st with a leap of 4.47 meters in the long jump.

The Lady Flames also entered three relay races. Beckford and Childers teamed with Audrey Smith and Brianna Prugh to finish eighth (12:53.02) in the distance medley relay. Prugh, Smith, Bryan and Madison Riddle recorded a time of 10:07.74 for sixth in the 4x800 meter relay. Martin, Childers, Riddle and Beckford crossed the finish line of the 4x400 meter relay at 4:05.63 (seventh).

The men's distance medley relay team of Gullette, Kipchumba, Smith and Seth Eagleson placed ninth with a mark of 10:39.41.

Joseph Crook, Camden Perez and Matt Jenkins made up part of the field in the 5000 meter run. Crook crossed the line at 15:53.88 (12th), Perez was 15th (15:56.82) and Jenkins was 31st (16:44.35). Eagleson placed fifth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:45.78.

Crook's time of 4:29.21 in the 1 mile run put him in fifth place. Smith was seventh with a time of 4:30.17 and Nick Eckert was 14th (4:38.42).

Barry and Javon Jones placed 16th and 17th, respectively in the 200 meter dash. Barry had a time of 23.12 and Jones was right behind at 23.14.

The men's 4x800 meter relay defended their national championship from a year ago, but was disqualified after the race for an exchange zone violation between Smith and Eckert.

"I am disappointed we were disqualified. According to NCAA rules, which the NCCAA follows at track meets, a yellow flag must be thrown during the exchange to signify if a violation was committed. There was no flag thrown and we assumed we had won. After a team is disqualified it must be submitted to the Head Umpire in writing. Neither one of these rules were followed," added Morgan.

Both the women and men will begin the outdoor season in Atlanta at the Emory Invitational on March 20-21.
