About Me

Lifelong track and field enthusiast. My father took me to the UT-Villanova dual meet at Tom Black Track in 1968(?). UT won over this national power and I was enamored with these guys that could fly around the track.I ran KTC summer track in 1973 with Terry Hull and Robert Rovere as my coaches. At Holston HS (Knoxville, Tn) I ran track from 1971-1973 and CC (1972). I led off the 2 mile relay as a sophomore. I ran the 440 throughout my junior year as well as anchoring the 440, 880 and later the mile relays. My senior year I took 3rd at the District 4 meet in the 440,becoming the first Holston athlete to qualify for the regional meet in seven years. I ran the 2 mile and mile relays throughout the year. I was fortunate enough to set the school record of 51.6 (440 dash)but failed to qualify for the semifinals of the region meet. At the conclusion of the season I was honored to be named team captain.
