Metro 8 Format

No entry fees for teams or individuals.

No team scoring.

No Most Valuable or other Special awards.

FINALS only (Top 8 athletes choosing to compete in each event).

Athletes are limited to a maximum of two events.

Metro 8 Qualifying

Qualifying will begin on March 12, 2007. All qualifying marks must be verifiable by a publication or a website. Marks prior to March 12, including indoor marks, will NOT be considered for Metro 8 purposes.

Track Events will qualify using FAT (no exceptions and no conversions).

Field Events will qualify in meets of eight (8) or more teams including, but not limited to: VTC, Oak Ridge Relays, William Blount Invitational

Relay Events will qualify using FAT as the team run, not the school. Names must be submitted with the qualifying mark. Metro 8 relays will be allowed one alternate in the competition. Coaches are asked to maintain the integrity of the relay when using an alternate, with alternates added to improve the relay team.

Ties will be broken using the following:

1. Date of qualifying (date only, not time of day).

2. Flip of coin by meet director

Published on or about April 2 and updated weekly. Alternates will also be listed.

Athletes are allowed only two (2) events at Metro 8 so there will be athletes moving into qualifying positions after top qualifiers have declared events.

Coaches will declare their athletes intent to enter the Metro 8 on or before Friday, April 27 at noon. After declaring for an event an athlete will be considered as having competed in that event, even if they do not compete.
