King of the Mountain #3 2015

Crossville, TN

Meet Information

Stone Memorial High School, in Crossville, will be hosting the 2nd Annual King of the Mountain Track Meet on March 26, April 2, and April 14.
As coaches, we have been to many events and we see things that we like about meet management and things we do not like about meet management. We are going to apply everything we have learned about what we like and dont like to try to create and run a great track meet.

1. Let the Coaches Coach: We have arranged for volunteers to work our track event all we ask is that a few coaches help in the field events to make sure that proper rules are followed, in addition to hiring Jasen Parks (Tennessee Runner Website) to time the event using his FAT timing technology. This will eliminate the need for coaches to be involved in setting things up, working events, etc. We are going to allow coaches only in the infield and on the outside of the track to allow you access to your team.

2. Designated Warmup Area: Runners/participants will have a designated warm-up area, which will help keep everything organized and eliminate clutter and confusion.

3. Communication will be a key component of our meet. We will have an field-wide announcer on the intercom, as well as organizers with megaphones for keeping everyone informed and moving to their necessary spots. Event staff will be easily identified and most of 12 of the 32 volunteers will have 2-way radios for handling issues.

4 Recognition of Winners: We will be presenting medals to the top 3 spots (Gold, Silver, Bronze) in each event. In addition, all participants will receive a free promotional gift for being there.

5. Concessions: we will have a concessions area with water, sports drinks, snacks, and fruit open to runners and spectators. We will keep costs low on these items.

6. Ease of Entry: Online registration will be available on the Tennessee Runner website ( http://tn.milesplit.com/ ) that will open up on March 1st. We are going to make this as automated and simple as possible.

7. Cost: The entry fee is $5 per participant with a $50 cap placed on each team per gender. So if you have 20 males you would pay just $50 and the same for females. These funds are used strictly to pay for timing. No other team fees will be charged. (Spectators/fans will pay $3 for adults and $1 for kids at the gate for admission.)

8. FAT Timed: FAT timing is the ultimate in accuracy and gives your runners a VERIFIABLE time that can be used to enter Invitational events and also more recognized when using for recruiting purposes.

9. Run Smoothly and Efficiently: FAT Timing, full staffing, good communication, designated warm-p areas, etc.. are all in place to make sure that first and foremost, the meet moves smoothly and efficiently, with minimum delays. We will also limit each team to a maximum of 3 participants in each event to keep everything moving.

10. Easy Access: Stone Memorial High School is located in Crossville immediately off of Interstate 40 at Exit 320. We have ample parking for buses and cars and plenty of seating for spectators.

11. A coaches hospitality room will be provided with food and drinks.

We are expecting this event to attract many teams and we may have to limit the team numbers, so please let us know if you would like to join us.

Louie Delorenzo will be the key organizer of the event, along with myself and Tim Cokkinias.
