5:00 Running Events, girls run before boys and sections versus time for all events. (please note we will start running before the field events are done)

CHATTANOOGA OPTIMIST TRACK AND FIELD MEET
APRIL 13, 2012

Each team may enter three individuals per event and one relay team (if they meet the minimum marks). The Tennessee entry limitation is that no contestant may participate in more than four events. Online entry only, there will be no race day entries

It is very important that coaches be honest and accurate in turning in their athletes best times or performances. We will be running sections of each event. The better runners will be grouped together, but all sections times will be compared for place. use an unverified times will not be accepted.

Miscellaneous information:
1. All entries must be submitted online (big green button on this page).
The entry deadline is 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Online entry only, there will be no race day entries

2. Entry fee: $5 per athlete. Maximum entry fee of $40 per gender team ($80 per school that has both boys and girls teams). Make checks payable to Walker Valley Track & Field.

3. National Federation and TSSAA rules will be followed.

4. Participants in the shot, discus, long jump, and triple jump will have a total of three trials.

5. The 100 Hurdles and the running events that follow will begin promptly after the 3200. Coaches should plan accordingly when turning in your lineup. It is very likely that the field events will overlap with the running events.

6. Scoring will be 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

7. RUNNING EVENTS: All running events are run in sections against time as finals. Heats will be set using entry times turned in by the coaches. Each event will be set up to run fastest heat last.

8. Races will be timed using fully automatic timing.

9. Opening heights for the vertical jumps:
Girls High Jump: 4-6
Boys High Jump: 5-6

There will be minimum qualifying marks for every event.

In order to keep the cost of this meet to a minimum, all Coaches will be asked to help work a field event.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each event. Team awards will be given to the top girls and boys teams.

Coaches should submit scratches and substitutions for the running events to the clerk between 3:00-4:00. Scratches and substitutions for field events will be made at the site. No additions will be allowed.

Runners should report to the bull pen by second call. Roll call for the field events will be held in the area of the event. If they have not reported by 3rd call they will be scratched. When runners report plan on staying in the bull pen. Runners will be walked out on the track just before each race.

Please use 1/4 inch spikes or shorter. Please refrain from using chalk. Tape will be allowed in the high jump and long jump areas.

Throwing implements will be weighed in the throwing area. Implements that do not weigh in properly will be impounded until after the track meet.

Vaulters will be weighed in prior to the event in the track storage garage. Vaulters will not be allowed to use a pole in competition unless it is rated for a weight equal to or higher than their own. No exceptions.

Commemorative Optimist tee shirts will be on sale.

A concession stand will be open.

Team tents may be set up outside the competition area or on the visitor's side bleachers. No team tents will be allowed in the home side bleachers or in the infield.
