WALDBART COMMITS TO LADY TORNADO CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD King College Press Release Jan 23, 2009

 King College head cross country coach Peter Dalton is pleased to announce the addition of Heidi Waldbart (Henderson, N.C.) to the Lady Tornado 2009-2010 squad. The Lady Eagle from East Henderson high school is a four-time State cross country qualifier and possesses a personal record of 21:01 for 5,000 meter.

Under the tutelage of East Henderson coach Rusty Ward, Waldbart was named to the All-Conference and All-Region teams numerous times and also garnered the Kiwanis All-Star award.

The King College Lady Tornado cross country squad has added Hannah Witt-Sannes (Mountain City, Tenn.) for the 2009-2010 season. The Lady Longhorn of Johnson Co. high school has been a recent revelation this season, dismissing a host of competitors with vast amounts of experience, to finish 4th at the prestigious 17th Annual Bristol Cross.

 The King College men's and women's cross country team's will look to build upon the momentum created during the 2007 season which saw the women's team finish second in both the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Region XII Championships while the men finished fourth in the AAC Championships, and third in the NAIA Region XII Championships.

 King College Track & Field is proud to announce that Karns High School senior Lauren Weeks has signed a letter of intent to compete for King College.

Dillon Favor has signed with King College King College Press Release May 16, 2008

 King College is happy to announce that Dillon Favor of Sullivan East High School has signed to compete for King College track and field team.  Favor is a field event specialist that will help to give King much need depth in the field events area.  Favor’s main event is the high jump, but he will help in the horizontal jumps as well. 

Four King College Track School Records set at Western Carolina Invitational King College Press Release Mar 30, 2008

 Running in overcast conditions and occasional light rain at the Western Carolina Invitational track meet King athletes performed very well. Continually seeking competition against Division I and II NCAA teams in order to achieve top marks, it was business as usual for the track team. Although no wins were recorded several seconds and many podium finishes were achieved by the King track athletes. All Americans Brittany Simmons and Tyrell Cuffy produced National qualifying performances.

 

King College All American Track Coaches Clinic King College Press Release Feb 10, 2008

In only it’s fourth season of existence the King College Track and Field program has suddenly become the area’s front runner in offering academic and athletic excellence for student/athletes from both near and far. Coach Bomar joined me in the 2005 -2006 school year and wasted no time at all in demonstrating his knowledge and love for the sport. In 2007 the men’s team finished 7th in the Outdoor Nationals ending a season highlighted by the achievements of 7 All Americans and two National Champions. Although I did recruit some of these athletes Johnny Bomar personally coached them ALL !! I strongly encourage you to attend the King College Sprint/hurdle/horiztonal Jumps clinic that Johnny will direct and experience a day of learning and motivation to help start your 2008 track season off right !! - Tom Murrell


Hamilton and Masters qualify for the NAIA Nationals King College Press Release Nov 04, 2007

\"\"Daniel Hamilton and Helania Masters qualified for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships  held at Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin beginning  at 10:30 am on Saturday November 18. Daniel, a freshman,  ran his fastest and best race of the year to earn the trip to Wisconsin. Helania who missed qualifying last season by one spot ran another solid race just missing her personal best time by one second.

Although the affects of the 24 hour virus hampered some performances the effort was there and both men and women competed well in the team competition. Individual performances were highlighted by the racing of Derick Parker and Helania Masters. Both runners had finished at the number 3 position for the team in the opener at Tusculum but moved to the front for King this time out. Derick’s 27:58 place him in fourth overall and Helania’s 20:03 was second on the “not very fast” course.

King College Cross Country teams opened the 2007 season with a pair of wins on Saturday September 8th. at the Tusculum Invitation in Greeneville. The men’s team led by freshman Daniel Hamilton of Franklin NC, had a perfect score of 15. Jeremy Faulk and Derick Parker followed close behind at 27:56 and 28:03. Joseph Pair, Adam Hawthorne and Josh Brewer followed for King in a close pack on ly 15 seconds apart.

"Brittney is one of the best all round athletes to come out of Tennessee High School. She has been an All-State performer in several events and could qualify for our National Championships in several events. Brittney is very strong in the hurdles, high jump and long jump but she can excel in other events as well. 

CLOYD CROWNED NATIONAL CHAMP IN LONG JUMP King College Press Release May 27, 2007

\"\"Sophomore Josh Cloyd (Telford, Tenn.) jumped 24 feet (24-00.75) to make him the 2007 NAIA National Champion in the Long Jump. Cloyd was ranked sixth going into the final round of competition, where he exploded for the best jump of the day. This is the first National Champion in King College Track and Field history.
