Stone Memorial's Jacob Simmons will continue his cross country and track and field career at Tennessee Wesleyan. Jacob Simmons signed scholarship papers to continue his running ability in cross country and track and field at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens for the 2012-'13 school year.

"Jacob has been one of the most dedicated athletes that I have been associated with.  He is a great runner and a great leader for others.  His dedication to working hard has led to this point in his career.  He is an excellent student and will be an asset right away at Tennessee Wesleyan College.  He will be missed here at Stone and we wish him the very best in his future career," said Coach Tim Smith.

He was a 2011 All-State Cross Country runner, finished fourth in the 400 meters in the 2011 state track and field meet, was an individual Region 2A/AA champion in 2010 and 2011, a state participant in 2009, 2010 and 2011; was All Region 2 A/AA in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and set school records in the 5K, 400 meter, 800 meter and 1600 meter.

He led the Panthers to three straight  Region 2A/AA championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
