Oakland's Brock Baker finishes in the clear
Brock Baker kept his mind clear Saturday morning. He forgot about how many miles remained during the 3.1-mile run at the Midstate Cross Country Championships. The Oakland junior just went out and ran the Sharp Springs Natural Area course. Baker, the Class AAA runner-up in 2010, won Saturday in 15:20.08, more than 46 seconds ahead of second-place finisher and teammate Conner Thompson. Baker’s time was about 13 seconds off the pace of his personal best of 15:07, which is the fastest time in the state.
