SMHS cross country teams competed at Hardin Valley
The Stone Memorial cross country teams competed in the Hardin Valley Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Hardin Valley Academy.
The Panther varsity of Jacob Simmons, Mario Martinez, Bo Hamilton, Sam Hagan, Austin Varney, Tyler Yoder and Sawyer Casey finished sixth with 188 points, behind Hardin Valley (47), Oak Ridge (59), Webb School (102), Maryville (154) and William Blount (170). There were 21 teams in the varsity division, according to tn.milesplit.com/meets.
Simmons finished seventh overall in 16:54, followed by Martinez (18:28); Hamilton (18:58); Hagan (19:23); Varney (20:00); Yoder (20:45); and Casey (20:51).
The Panther junior varsity of Austin Brickle, Boomer Freeman, Trevor Gilbert, Patrick Smith, Luke Bussey, Justin Hall and Skylar Hawn finished fifth with 154 points, behind Oak Ridge (20); Hardin Valley (41), William Blount (91) and Maryville (106) in the six-team field.
The JV times were Brickle (20.55), Freeman (21:59), Gilbert (23:28), Smith (23:33), Bussey (25:35); Hall (25:35); and Hawn (25:38).
The Lady Panthers finished seventh with 223 points, followed by Hardin Valley (33), Maryville (69), Oak Ridge (74), Knox Webb (93), William Blount (137) and Heritage (211). There were 16 varsity girls teams.
Kerigan Smith led SMHS in 23:04.9, followed by Tiffany Cokkinias (23:11.9); Kayli Priestwood (24:06.8); Rachel Hutson (24:07.4); Faith Vanruden (25:30.6); Tessa Cokkinias (25:51.2); Grace Harrison (25:59.4); and Josie Lyon (29:03.7).
