MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Competing in a rare night event on Saturday, the Northern Kentucky University cross country teams both posted solid results at the Memphis Twilight Classic.

The NKU men placed eighth out of 30 teams in their eight-kilometer race with a score of 285, while the Norse women posted a 12th-place finish (352 points) in their five-kilometer event that featured 32 teams.

Joey Mueller led the NKU men with a time of 25:18.89, which was good for 32nd place. Ryne Smith posted a 42nd-place finish with a time of 25:34.64.

Jerrica Maddox paced the NKU women, completing the five-kilometer course in 18:56.84 and taking 45th-place honors. Kayla Justice finished 51st with a time of 19:06.46 for the Norse women.

Eastern Kentucky won the men's team title with a score of 53. Stephen F. Austin captured the women's team title with a score of 60.

NKU returns to action Oct. 2 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
