Outdoor track season kicks off with Spring Fling

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University women's track and field team will host the outdoor season-opening APSU Spring Fling beginning 9 a.m., Saturday, at Governors Stadium.

Among the expected leaders for the Lady Govs will be senior pole vaulters Carrie Burggraf and Molly Bartkiewicz, who each will look to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Regionals after just missing the mark in indoor competition. Bartkiewicz finished indoor career as the school indoor record holder in the pole vault at 4.13 (13-06.50) meters.

Freshman Leigha Tolliver will look to continue her prowess in both the field - where she is an accomplished long and triple jumper - and on the track, where she teams with senior Amanda McCoy to form a useful one-two punch in the hurdles.

Not to be outdone in the field, McCoy also will try to bring home an individual title in the high jump this season, after finishing second during the indoor season.
