Cross Country Head to Tennessee Tech Invitational Friday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- -The UTC men's and women's cross country teams will head to Cookeville, Tenn., Friday afternoon for the Tennessee Tech Invitational to be run at the Southern Hills Golf Course. Six men's teams will run the 8K course at 4 p.m. followed by seven women's teams in a 5K run at 5 p.m. Eastern time.

Competing in the men's race will be Ohio Valley Conference rivals Murray State, Tennessee State and Jacksonville State, along with the Golden Eagles. Also in the field will be UT Chattanooga and North Alabama. The field in the women's race will feature the same six schools, plus Alabama A&M.

The Mocs will have junior Emmanuel Kirwa who placed eighth at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., two weeks ago along with freshman Kyle McLarty and sophomore Joshue Vasquez. The women will be led onto the course by junior Anneli Uys who placed 11th in the Crimson Classic. Freshmen Heather Stuive, Kathryn Stuart and Mary Cumbee look to figure in the race for Chattanooga who is plagued by injuries this season.

Both teams were originally slated to run at Louisville, but changed venues for the weekend.
