Early on in the season it looks to be a four way team battle in 1A with Lincoln Charter, Community School of Davidson, Franklin Academy and Bishop McGuinness in contention for a team title.
In 2A it's a rematch of last years state meet with defending champions North Lincoln and last years runners-up First Flight looking to be head and shoulders above the rest of the classification early on.
Weddington seems unstoppable at the 3A level, but Chapel Hill have been off to a hot start to the year with Cuthbertson and Marvin Ridge also having hot starts.
Green Hope is coming off a very strong performance at Hare & Hounds but are trailed closely by Broughton Cardinal Gibbons, Cary and Panther Creek. Any of these five teams could claim the 4A title this fall.
