Cross country action is heating up. We had a dizzying array of talent competing across the country this weekend, and we had epic performances.

Who had the best outing?

That's the big question, but before we get to our National Performer of the Week nominees, let's look back on who took top honors a week ago.

It was a crazy race toward the finish line, with Summit (OR) High junior Fiona Max closing out voting with a surge and over 2,000 votes to gain 51-percent of the vote. She needed every bit of it to fend off second-place Anna Martin, who received nearly 44-percent and over 1,800 votes.

Max is currently the No. 1 runner for a rising Summit team that recently entered the MileSplit50 national rankings at No. 8. Last week she held off one of Oregon's top challengers, Kyla Becker, at the Northwest Classic, winning in 17:31.30.

A big congratulations goes out to Fiona.

Now on to this week's candidates. Who do you think had the top performance nationally? Vote in the poll below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Check back Friday to find out the winner. We'll publish National Performer of the Week polls every Monday following the previous week's action.
